AI has changed a lot. You can generate a website concept in seconds. You can create images, campaigns, brands and pretty much anything else without any of it ever actually existing. And to be clear, we are not against AI. We use it too when it makes sense. But there is still a big difference between using AI as a tool and showing something as real work when there is no actual project behind it. At Vossen Studios, we prefer to show work that actually exists.
Real projects. Real businesses.
If we show a Shopify store, it is a real Shopify store. You can visit it. You can order from it. Payments work. Orders are processed and somebody will actually receive what they bought. If we show a website, it is a website we have actually built and launched. How we present that work is a different thing. Sometimes we use photography. Sometimes video. Sometimes high-quality mockups. There is nothing wrong with making the presentation look good. In fact, it should look good.
The important part is that there is a real project behind it.
Looking good is only one part of the job
A website can look great in a screenshot and still be terrible to use. There is a lot happening behind what people actually see. It needs to work properly on different devices. It needs to be fast. Forms need to work. Tracking needs to work. Cookie consent needs to work. The customer needs to be able to actually manage the site afterwards.
With e-commerce there is even more going on. Payments, shipping, stock, taxes, customer accounts, product data, analytics and everything else around it need to work together. Most of that is not particularly interesting to show in an Instagram post. But it is still part of the work. And usually quite a big part of it.
AI is a tool
We use new tools when they make sense. AI can make certain things faster. It can help with research, ideas, development, content and production. Sometimes it can produce something genuinely useful.
But I do not think everything suddenly needs to become AI-generated just because it can be.
There is still value in knowing how to design something properly, how to build it and how to make it work in the real world. The tool should help with the work.It should not become the work.
